Congratulations to the 2022 finalists for the IACP Awards!
Winners To Be Announced in the Fall of 2022 at the International Association of Culinary Professionals Awards Ceremony
On Friday July 29th, the International Association of Culinary Professionals announced the finalists of the prestigious IACP awards from Los Angeles’ Chinatown, the location of the independent cookbook and culinary store, Now Serving.
The nominations were announced by IACP’s Awards Director, Paola Briseño-González and guerrilla gardener, Ron Finley. Rarer are gardeners whose efforts have sparked political awakenings. Ron Finley grew up in the South Central region of Los Angeles, where he teaches communities how to transform food deserts into food sanctuaries, and teaches individuals how to regenerate their lands via the Ron Finley Project.
The nomination announcement was made via a video and can be viewed online on Vimeo. Winners will be announced at the award ceremony this fall, date and location to be announced soon. This year’s award ceremony is being held separately from the IACP annual conference, with the intention to put award nominees in the spotlight.
The Executive Awards Committee and Subcommittees led by IACP’s Awards Director, Paola Briseño-González, updated policies and procedures this year to continue to enhance the rigor of the awards program and maintain its position as one of the most prestigious in the industry. These changes included refining review processes and stringent ethical rules. The organization also continued efforts to make the awards more accessible by offering a free entry period for digital categories, food writing, food photography and styling, as well as reduced entry fees in the cookbook awards program.
The IACP Cookbook Awards continued its partnership with The Julia Child Foundation for Gastronomy and the Culinary Arts to provide free entries into the IACP Julia Child First Book Award and award $5,000 to the author of a first cookbook. Our hope is that these efforts make the awards more accessible, and increase the diversity of the pool of candidates.

2022 IACP COOKBOOK AWARDS
The IACP Cookbook Awards honor the authors, publishers, and other contributors behind the best cookbooks published each year. Our program requires multi-step, rigorous recipe testing in all relevant awards categories. Awards are given in 15 categories, and one cookbook will be selected by our judges as the IACP Book of the Year.
The cookbook awards program was chaired by last year’s IACP committee member, Atlanta-based fermentation and food historian, Julia Skinner. The chair, along with a dedicated team of super judges, make up the cookbook awards committee. The committee oversees the review process across fifteen categories. This season’s super judges were:
Andrea Nguyen, the author of six acclaimed cookbooks and a leading voice in Asian American food and publishing. Dianne Jacob, a multiple award-winning author, editor and writing coach. Irvin Lin, a cookbook author and award-winning photographer and recipe developer. Martin Earl, Culinary Editor for ThermoWorks, and Shaun Chavis, a food and health journalist in Atlanta, Georgia.
To purchase cookbooks, please consider one of the following independent booksellers: Now Serving, Omnivore Books, Kitchen Arts and Letters, Powell’s, or your local cookbook store.
